rowe design group's services to the commonwealth of massachusetts have ranged from straightforward architecture and engineering to facility analysis, capital planning, and energy audits. rdg is currently under contract to the commonwealth as an as-needed engineering "house doctor" for fiscal year 1997. working closely with the division of capital planning and operations, we have reviewed more than 100 state-owned buildings and facilities, including court houses, schools, fire and police stations, and medical facilities. work at the deer island facility included the design a fire alarm and electrical distribution system for the 17-building complex.

boston police and fire department headquarters, boston, massachusetts

rdg performed two separate projects at this historic boston landmark. the first project in 1987 provided handicapped access into the main entrance in order to bring the facility into ada compliance. the necessary improvements were achieved without detracting from the historic ambiance of the facade. the second project, performed in 1990, analyzed current space needs for both the police and fire departments, providing cost estimates and construction timetables to meet city requirements

other state work includes our efforts on behalf of the university of massachusetts. in amherst, we are currently overseeing the remediation of an hvac system in a major laboratory building. please see the education page for background on our work at the amherst campus.
